Meet The Owners
Floyd and Debbie Summers alongside Jared and Brooke Yost are who stand behind the brand, S/Y. Brooke is Floyd and Debbie’s daughter. She was born and raised in Claremore along the side of her parents. Jared was born and raised in Kingfisher, Okla. Floyd and Debbie own a drilling and blasting company and also raise cattle and horses on the side. Jared was raised farming and ranching full-time. He graduated from the Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agronomy and Animal Science. Brooke graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Communications.
Jared and Brooke both met at a job they took out right out of college. He was the lead agronomist and was in charge of her training. Soon after, they got married and had a family.
One day, Debbie was heavily pondering on an idea. She had fed cattle for people for years, just like Jared. She ran her idea by the family and thought, since the demand of beef is so high, we should go in together and open up a store. Given that we all have a heavy background in agricultural and Jared was so passionate about farming and ranching, it was right up his ally. Not only would he have his own calves to feed out, she would keep the steers that were born and then send them for conditioning.
And that is how our little family-owned business “SY” came about; Summers/Yost beef market. We branded it and the rest is history.
